LED Holiday Lights
Tired of getting the Christmas Tree lights out of the box year after year and spending hours trying to get the string to light up? For me, that is the most frustrating part of decorating a tree.
Well, this year, I have a solution. LED Lights. They not only last longer then traditional incandescent lights, but they can help you lower your carbon footprint at the same time.
Let me explain how. First, some strings of LED lights can last about 50,000 hours or more saving you from buying more strings of lights every other year.
The energy savings are even better. Here is an example: A typical sized tree lit with traditional lights for 30 days uses about 75kW of electricity, the exact same tree lit with LED lights for the same period of time uses only 7.5kW of electricity. If you decorate the outside of your house too, just think how much energy you would save by switching to LED lights. And, since the strings of lights last longer, you are decreasing the amount of waste you contribute to landfills. LED lights cost a little more up front, but you’ll make that cost back with the savings on your electric bill in about two holiday seasons.
